The intercepts are among pieces of evidence leading U.S. officials to suspect that a device planted on Metrojet Flight 9268 exploded shortly after the Airbus A321 took off from the resort city of Sharm al-Sheikh, the sources said. All 224 passengers and crew were killed when the plane crashed in the desert on the way to St. Petersburg, Russia.

(Reuters) - The center of tropical storm Kate, the eleventh named storm of the 2015 Atlantic season, was likely to move away from the northwestern Bahamas on Monday night, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said. Kate was located about 70 miles (115 kms) east-northeast of Great Abaco Island in the Bahamas, with maximum sustained winds of 50 miles per hour (85 km/h), the Miami-based agency said. A turn toward the north is expected on Monday night, followed by a faster northeastward motion on Tuesday, the agency said.
