In a telephone call, Russian President Vladimir Putin told Cameron it was important that assessments of the cause of the crash be based on information from the official investigation, Interfax news agency reported. Egypt, which depends on tourism as a crucial source of revenue, said there was no evidence a bomb was to blame.

A confidential Oct. 29 report by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), a summary of which was shown to Reuters, concluded "with the utmost confidence that at least two people were exposed to sulfur mustard" in the town of Marea, north of Aleppo, on Aug. 21. "It is very likely that the effects of sulfur mustard resulted in the death of a baby," it said.

Up to 16 reported killed in dam burst at Brazilian mine

Dozens possibly dead after mining dam collapses in Minas Gerais.A dam holding back waste water from an iron ore mine burst on Thursday in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais and local media reported as many as 16 people may have been killed. The mining company Samarco, a joint venture between Brazil's Vale and Australia's BHP, said in a statement it had not yet determined why the dam burst or the extent of the disaster at its Germano mine near the town of Mariana. The city council told Globo News it was evacuating about 600 people to higher ground from the village of Banto which was flooded as a result of the accident.

In addition to those requests, security measures under discussion include better baggage screening at major domestic U.S. airports, potentially including matching luggage to manifest lists before takeoff, the television network said, quoting the officials. President Barack Obama said earlier on Thursday he believed there was a "possibility" that a bomb may have brought down a Russian airliner in Egypt on Saturday, killing more than 200 people.
